House, 120 m², Hrboki
The house is being designed near the well-known Blaz Bay, located on the Rakalj side of the Raša Bay in the village of Hrboki. The area is famous for its history of crystal-clear water flowing from multiple natural springs that still exist today. Even now, it appears remarkably pure and untouched — both due to its relative seclusion and the breathtaking natural surroundings. Visible remains of old mills at sea level evoke the memory of past life by the water.
Untouched nature, stunning panoramic views — with the sea on one side and Mount Učka on the other — along with the silence away from city noise, defined the guiding principles for the interior concept, while carefully balancing the investor’s wishes.
The house is designed in a Mediterranean style, consciously avoiding excessive modernism. By selecting natural materials such as stone, wrought iron, light wood, and their decorative interpretations, the aim was to revive a rural atmosphere and authentic character. At the same time, in accordance with the investor’s preferences, it was important not to lean too heavily into a purely traditional Mediterranean style. Therefore, white accents were introduced wherever possible (white stair treads, white wrought-iron railings, etc.) to maintain freshness, airiness, and a slightly more contemporary feel.
Stone finishes using Istrian Kanfanar stone and Bunja maintain the regional stylistic theme. Modern wrought-iron elements, brushed fixtures, and black-and-white lighting combinations enhance elegance, while contemporary decorative wall techniques and wooden ceiling details introduce playfulness, soul, and character.
Green tones in the kitchen and sofa, floral accents, as well as jute and woven textures blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape and exterior. Two stone fireplaces, a traditional tavern space (konoba) with a billiard table, a swimming pool, an open-plan kitchen and living area, a beautiful first-floor terrace with a jacuzzi and chill-out zone overlooking green hills and sunsets, and two master bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and private terraces together provide the home with a modern foundation and the necessary level of luxury for relaxation, socializing, and the creation of a true modern rural oasis.
