Villa near Labin – Warm Minimalism with a Mediterranean Signature

In the countryside around Labin, NK Design has completed the interior of a modern villa where minimalism meets the warmth of natural materials and the relaxed rhythm of Mediterranean living. No superfluous detail — but enough character that every glance finds an interesting texture, a play of light, or a carefully chosen material.

It All Begins at the Heart of the Home

The centre of the villa is an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. Nothing new in contemporary architecture — but the atmosphere that emerges in that open space is where a designer’s eye actually earns its place.

A bright kitchen with clean, contemporary lines flows into the dining and living areas, creating an airy interior where everything moves naturally from one space to the next. That flow comes from the careful selection of materials, finishes, colours and textures — a luxurious interior with a Mediterranean signature.

Stone That Isn’t Just a Wall

Much of this interior’s character comes from natural stone. Its expressive texture in the living area becomes a powerful visual anchor and a direct link to the Istrian and Mediterranean landscape.

Combined with light tones, natural timber and soft textiles, the stone gives the space depth and character while preserving a sense of calm and warmth.

Light That Creates Atmosphere

The lighting tells its own story, drawn from Mediterranean design. Organically shaped pendants above the dining table bring sculptural presence and lightness, while discreet architectural lighting emphasises materials and clean lines.

Expansive glass surfaces further connect interior and exterior, letting daylight reshape the mood of the space as the day moves.

Dark Timber – Quiet Elegance with Character

The bedrooms are conceived as a calm, tactile retreat where neutral, earthy tones create warmth and ease. Dark timber of pronounced character dominates, its depth lending the space elegance and a certain intimacy. Against it sit soft textures, light fabrics and gentle tones that visually settle the room.

The lighting and carefully chosen details create the atmosphere — every element has a role, none takes the lead. The whole concept follows one principle: less, but more considered. Luxury isn’t in quantity. It’s in the balance of material, proportion and light.

Marble as a Bold Answer to the Timber

If the bedroom is a space of calm, the bathroom brings the surprise. As a deliberate design shock, an intense marble with a powerful, dramatic structure was chosen. Its pronounced veining creates a striking contrast to the darker timber of the bedrooms — and connects the two spaces at the same time.

Here marble isn’t a finish. It’s the main character of the room. Its opulence stands against simple, clean lines and neutral tones, and the result is a bathroom that reads as luxurious without being cold. Bold, without being pretentious.

Minimalism You Can Actually Live In

Here, minimalism is neither cold nor sterile. Warm minimalism rests on natural materials, gentle tones, comfortable textures and carefully considered detail.

The result is a contemporary villa interior that looks elegant — but is above all made for living. For mornings with coffee, long evenings with friends, quiet nights, and everything in between.

Through this project near Labin, NK Design brings together contemporary design, natural materials and Mediterranean atmosphere — sophisticated, elegant, understated, and carrying the kind of warmth that turns any space into a home.
