In the heart of Buzet, we reconstructed an old traditional restaurant and transformed it into a modern brewery-style venue and pizzeria. According to the client’s request, we created a rendering of the redesigned space while respecting the original architectural character.
We preserved the original terracotta flooring, the exposed wooden beams on the terrace ceiling, and the existing bar counter, which was given a new identity by cladding it in perforated metal sheet. The same material is repeated in two additional areas, creating structure and spatial dynamism.
The old beams and benches were restored. To avoid the typical “yellow wood” tone associated with rustic interiors and achieve the desired “burnt oak” effect with a cooler hue, we applied a wood staining technique. This approach modernized the space and introduced elegance while maintaining the authenticity of wooden elements.
These treatments harmonize beautifully with the warm tones of brick and terracotta ceramics, while gray walls cool down and slightly darken the space, giving it the atmosphere of a modern brewery — a contemporary interpretation of a traditional “Istrian cellar.”
Modern lighting further enhanced the ambiance, giving the space a distinctive contemporary character.
